Patric HYNES Lee UNIVERSITY

Patric Hynes enters his third season as assistant coach of Indiana Men's Tennis. He comes to Bloomington after seven years as head men's and women's coach at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.

Last season, Hynes led PC to increased wins from the 2010 season. The men's team recorded 11 wins, the first time the program notched double-digit wins as a Div. I program.

In 2010, Hynes helped both squads increase their win totals from the previous season, and guided the women's team to its first victory over a Big South Conference opponent since the move to Division I with a 4-3 win over Liberty.

In 2009, Hynes' men's squad won its first-ever match over a Division I program - a 6-1 victory over Kennesaw State on Feb. 6. The team defeated Big South Conference foe UNC Asheville 4-3 for its first conference victory, coming in front of the home crowd on March 29.

As the men's head coach, Hynes guided the program into Division I during the 2008 season. During the transition season to being a full-fledged Division I and Big South Conference member, Hynes' squad posted a 4-12 campaign, earning its first Division I victory over North Greenville on Feb. 9, 2008. The Blue Hose won all four of their matches in front of their home fans, garnering a 4-2 mark on their home court. Hynes' group finished the season with a three-match win streak.

In 2007, Hynes and the Blue Hose parlayed an undefeated conference record into a No. 1 seed in the South Atlantic Conference, picking up another league championship along the way. PC concluded the season ranked No. 35 nationally, which marked the end of their Division II play. The team also topped out at No. 6 in the Southeast Region. In the classroom, the team was equally impressive as three student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes and five were named to the SAC Honor Roll for academic excellence.

The 2006 campaign saw the coach take his team to its third regular-season conference title in four seasons, ending conference play with an undefeated mark. The squad carried the momentum into the conference tournament and eventually captured its third consecutive postseason title in as many years. PC earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA DIvision II Southeast Regional Tournament. The team earned a No. 16 national ranking to go along with a No. 6 ranking in the Southeast Region. For their efforts, Hynes was named the SAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.

In 2005, Hynes led the Blue Hose to a 13-9 overall record, the SAC tournament title and a runner-up spot during the conference's regular season. The team earned a spot to the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament.

Prior to his time at PC, Hynes came from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C., where he spent the previous season as both the men's and women's head tennis coach.

In 2004, Hynes led the LMC men's team to an 18-4 overall record and a second-place effort in the Carolinas-Virginia Conference regular season while the women's team compiled a 17-4 mark, also finishing second in the CVAC. Both teams continued their excellence in the classroom as each earned ITA Academic All-America honors.

Hynes spent three seasons as an assistant coach at LMC before taking over as head coach. Hynes graduated cum laude from LMC with a degree in business administration in 2000. He was also a four-year letterwinner with the Bobcats, earning CVAC Freshman of the Year, all-CVAC and ITA academic honors during his career.

In his tenure as a college coach, Hynes has coached three conference championship teams, 18 ITA Scholar Athletes, and three ITA All-American teams. He has coached 18 all-conference student-athletes, three student-athletes that earned Freshman of the Year accolades and three that garnered Player of the Year honors. During his tenure, Hynes' student-athletes have earned Player of the Week honors 21 times and three have been named conference tournament MVP.

Hynes is a native of Melbourne, Australia and is married to the former Judi Ball from Summerville, S.C. The couple has a daughter, four-year old Miriam Elli, and a son, one-year old Graeme Laurence.
